The Step Up movie series has five films in total, the latest was released in 2014 entitled “Step up: All in”. Since 2006, this series has been reasonably successful, earning its makers 650 million for worldwide box office earnings.
STEP UP REVOLUTION is the fourth film in the most successful dance franchise in the world. Set against the vibrant backdrop of sunny Miami, a crew of dancers band together to stage elaborate flash mobs in order to protect their neighborhood and fight for a greater cause.
This series is made for people who can appreciate awesome dance moves. Throw in a little romance, a heartwarming tale of a disadvantaged youth getting a second chance at life, and you have a hit.
For these reasons and more, Step Up has continually pleased audiences around the world. If you’re wondering if you have to watch the Step Up movie series in order, the answer is no. Each movie maintains both a separate plotline, as well as characters. However, the final movie which was released in 2014 has many of the characters from previous movies.
The premise of the final movie is to have a big meet up in Las Vegas containing all of the characters from all of the previous movies. If you’ve seen all of the movies in this series, “Step up: All in”, is actually a pretty fun watch.
This series has actually been fairly successful with each new release. In total, the budget for all five movies was just shy of 100 million. The total earnings in the box office for the series was 650 million, a fairly large profit margin. Critical review of this series has been relatively negative, the highest rating of the five is a 46% on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, these movies aren’t exactly made for their epic plots, it’s mainly to show off cool dance moves and warm your heart. I wouldn’t read too much into what the critics think about this one.
Movie Order Trailers Because of the continued success of this franchise, I would be surprised if we’ve seen the end to this series. While there’s no official word, I would paint a target date of 2016 for another release. I come at this date because the current release schedule for the previous five films has been every two years, like clockwork. With a reasonably high profit margin on the previous movies, there’s no reason why there should not be another release in the upcoming years. The Step Up movie series is both a heartwarming story, as well as an entertaining dance flick.
For this reason, I rate it highly, and recommend watching all films in this series in order. Hopefully in the upcoming years we’ll hear more about a potential 6 th film in this successful franchise. However, until then, we five awesome movies to watch, so fire up Netflix and have fun!
Sean brings his dance crew known as The Mob to Los Angeles to try and make it. But they haven't had much luck, eventually the Mob decides it's time to go back to Miami but Sean decides to stay. He learns of a dance competition is Las Vegas wherein the winner will get a three year contract. Sean needs a new crew so he asks fellow dancer Moose for help. And Moose introduces him to Andie, another friend and dancer who got injured a few years ago and is now ready to get back in. He recruits some other friends and they head Las Vegas as LMNTRIX.
When they get there, they discover that the Mob too is also there, which is very touchy for Sean. One of these days Step Up will realize that it's better for the characters to just whimsically dance like in old musical movie without forcing an already stagnant plot. The movie boasts a dynamic choreography and stellar music to go with it, some are timed just right and they are admittedly entertaining. It commendably tries to bring a dancer's perspective on their life style and tribulation, but the plot often contradicts the effort by putting overly flamboyant characters or tired plot. In the end it's just another drawn out excuse for a dance battle, albeit a rather spectacular one. Story revolves around characters from previous installments, collaborating to make a crew to win the high stake dance competition.
No Channing Tatum though. If this sounds familiar, it is. There are monetary issues, personal issues and dances in between. For what it's worth, the two leads try to bring more emotion to the mix, although only a few good moments come out of it. Adam Sevani (Moose) is a star, the uncrowned lead of the series. It's quiet amazing that his side story resonates more than the actual main plot. Problem arises when the movie attempts to exaggerate flamboyant lifestyle, especially those of celebrity's and their reality television.
Step Up All In
It's far from witty; in fact the humor tends to fall and becomes tiresome to watch. The main antagonists are mediocre unsavory characters; the male is copied directly from the typical random thug that messes with Chuck Norris or Steven Seagal at a bar, while the female is a botched version of Stanley Tucci's character from Hunger Games. When the characters don't banter they perform well.
Step Up Revolution 2012 Full Movie
Using odd props and good dance moves, they manage to produce a spectacle. Most of the cast are primarily dancers, so they convince the audience better using motion than poorly written script. Wardrobe looks good, each dance is represented with unique costume, the steampunk one is particularly exceptional. With simple yet effective effect, these dance sequences are the heights of the movie. Like any other installments, the plot is almost a hindrance as audience waits for another dance scene to erupt. It does try to make audience relate, although it misses the mark more often than not, which is a shame since it invests plenty of time for it.
The glossy choreograph and heart-thumping soundtracks present an enjoyable light flick, and to be fair it's what viewer would expect, but sadly nothing more.
